"We Should Foster a Culture of Critical Attitude towards Artificial Intelligence". Elena Kazakova and Yaroslav Kuzminov Discuss the Challenges Facing the Education System
Abstract
Today, we increasingly hear that the education system, both general and professional, is facing new challenges. Among them are the introduction of artificial intelligence learning tools, the demand for qualifications, the rethinking of the teacher’s role and their place in the learning process, the request for student assessment methods appropriate to the new content of education, and the mosaic thinking of the modern generation of children. Challenges vary in origin and entail diverse consequences, but all of them create conditions in which the education system needs to change approaches and practices, not denying the inevitable, but managing it. What is the content of these challenges? How can the education system change without harming itself? A And what will happen to it next? Two educators, authors of their own teaching and learning methods, and organizers of the educational process, Elena Kazakova (St. Petersburg State University) and Yaroslav Kuzminov (HSE University) — discuss these issues in the discussion section of the Educational Studies Moscow.
